Tis the season of giving...
The economy is hard for many people right now and few have money for donations but I wanted to post about two organizations that I believe in.
Heifer International provides gifts of livestock for those living in poverty and who are suffering from hunger. Whether it be chicks for eggs, milk from a goat or even bees to help with pollinating crops and providing a source of income these gifts are surely appreciated from people who have so little. http://www.heifer.org/
Abundant Life Seeds provides seeds and assists in garden and farm projects around the world. Providing these seeds allows people who would possibly go hungry to be self reliant by growing their own food for themselves and their community. http://www.abundantlifeseeds.com/steward
Wishing all of you many blessings this Holiday Season! - BJ

Some beautiful cross stitch designs!
I really enjoy cross stitch. When I need a break from making dolls I sit and make some samplers. It's always nice to find a new pattern to try and I especially love Betty's (Primitive Bettys) school girl pocket sampler. Check out her other designs too!

Online Craft Supplies Yard Sale....
The clutter from all my prim supplies is driving me crazy. I am offering all sorts of goodies from fabric, sheep's wool, thread, rusty nails, paper mache cones, rug hooking magazines, scissors, glass head pins, etc. I hope you find something that will ignite your creativity. - BJ

Just for laughs... The Zen of Sarcasm
A friend of mine sends me some of the funniest emails. I thought I would post this here for you. - BJ
The Zen of Sarcasm
1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.
2. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire.
3. It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.
4. Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
5. Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.
6. Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
7. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.
8. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you crticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
9. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is probably not for you.
10. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
11. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably a wise investment.
12. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
13. Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield.
14. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
15. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
16. A closed mouth gathers no foot.
17. Duct tape is like 'The Force.' It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
18. There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.
19. Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.
20. Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
21. Never miss a good chance to shut up.
22. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

For Angie, Betty and Jean....
Apparently there is a thing in blog land that is sort of like a chain letter where you are to share 5 things about yourself that perhaps others do not know. Well my friends Angie, Betty, and Jean all hit me up with this request so here is my list.
1. I can't wear heels over 2 inches high ... I'm not coordinated enough. LOL!
2. I have to have my fix of dark chocolate every day.
3. I have always wanted to travel to Alaska and Africa.
4. I am fascinated with the idea of living off the land and love to read about wild edible and medicinal plants.
5. I would much rather have a bouquet of weeds and wildflowers than some fancy florist flowers any day.
These are flowers my daughter picked for me the other day. Yes, they are just simple little weeds that pop up in our grass but my daughter presents me with these every spring and I think they are beautiful! - BJ

Something to ponder...

Kid's Corner...
I recently read in a magazine where a parent went to the store and picked up bunches of crafting supplies and she presented this box of crafting goodies to her child as a graduation present. I thought this was a great idea and plan on doing this to keep my child busy during summer vacation.
I also wanted to share with you some of my favorite children's books. I read a lot of books when I substitute teach and I also read with my child every night. I especially like folk tales and books with a moral message. Here are a few of my favorite titles I thought I would pass on to you.

If I Only Had A Green Nose by Max Lucado
(about being proud of who you are and not trying to be like others)
The Faerie's Gift by Tanya Robyn Batt
(a wish that could make not just you but others happy as well)
Hubert Horatio Bartle Bobton-Trent by Lauren Child
(sometimes simplicity is what really makes one happy)
Beatrice's Goat by Page McBrier
(how a small gift of a goat helps an African family)
Feathers and Fools by Mem Fox
(a good story about war and accepting each other's differences)
The Quiltmakers Gift by Jeff Brumbeau
(in the end it was the gift of giving that made this greedy king truly happy)
Zen Shorts by Jon J Muth
(short meditations to ponder)
The Three Questions by Jon J Muth
(a story of what is truly important in life)
The Honest-to-Goodness Truth by Patrick McKissack
(a lesson in being honest)
Kate and The Beanstalk by Mary Pope Osborn
(a female character adds a fun twist to this traditional story)
The Brave Little Seamstress by Mary Pope Osborn
(a very clever little girl in this folk tale)
Sleeping Bobby by Mary Pope Osborn
(a twist to the traditional tale when a female hero rescues the prince)
I would love to hear some book suggestions from you as well. Happy reading! - BJ

Anxiously awaiting spring!!
Penny Rabbit
Well we had a very dry summer last year in the southeast. So many of my plants died in the heat and others just did not flourish like they usually do. This past month we have had several good rains and I am hoping that will help all those sleeping plants so when they peek out this spring they will be happy and full of blooms. I am anxious for spring with its warmer and sunny skies, camping under the stars, trips to the mountains and just piddling around in my garden.
I have been making lots of bunnies to help celebrate the upcoming season. Some of them are pictured below. Descriptions, prices, and other rabbits may be viewed on my web site.
