I also wanted to share with you some of my favorite children's books. I read a lot of books when I substitute teach and I also read with my child every night. I especially like folk tales and books with a moral message. Here are a few of my favorite titles I thought I would pass on to you.
If I Only Had A Green Nose by Max Lucado
(about being proud of who you are and not trying to be like others)
The Faerie's Gift by Tanya Robyn Batt
(a wish that could make not just you but others happy as well)
Hubert Horatio Bartle Bobton-Trent by Lauren Child
(sometimes simplicity is what really makes one happy)
Beatrice's Goat by Page McBrier
(how a small gift of a goat helps an African family)
Feathers and Fools by Mem Fox
(a good story about war and accepting each other's differences)
The Quiltmakers Gift by Jeff Brumbeau
(in the end it was the gift of giving that made this greedy king truly happy)
Zen Shorts by Jon J Muth
(short meditations to ponder)
The Three Questions by Jon J Muth
(a story of what is truly important in life)
The Honest-to-Goodness Truth by Patrick McKissack
(a lesson in being honest)
Kate and The Beanstalk by Mary Pope Osborn
(a female character adds a fun twist to this traditional story)
The Brave Little Seamstress by Mary Pope Osborn
(a very clever little girl in this folk tale)
Sleeping Bobby by Mary Pope Osborn
(a twist to the traditional tale when a female hero rescues the prince)
I would love to hear some book suggestions from you as well. Happy reading! - BJ
